I hope 2017 is a fantastic year for you all!!

2016 has been an amazing year for DV8. We’ve played lots of memorable shows. We’ve written and performed new songs and released our first studio album in 17 years which has been greeted with much excitement and great reviews from all our fans. On Saturday April 1st we’ll be launching our DVD, DV8 Live! at the Belmont 16 Foot Sailing Club with special guests All Access 80s to give us the flavour of the times. It’s our 30 year anniversary of this amazing film which has a sound mix from the amazing Kevin “Caveman” Shirley who went on to record Silverchair’s “Frogstomp” , Joe Bonamassa, Cold Chisel and even re-mix some Led Zeppelin DVDs.

Exciting times for DV8 with the completion of our new album “Like It On Top”

Tomorrow we’ll be sending all of the artwork and music off for manufacture. Stay tune for our launch date. We have 10 tracks of punchy rock and roll that we’re very happy with.

We’ve re-recorded old favourites “Back To Basics” and “141” plus 8 other tracks that have never been released on a studio album. Amongst these are songs that are crowd faves in our live set but have never been on an album as well as some brand new songs.

Our live dates coming up are:

Saturday Oct 29th at Mezz Bar-Wallsend Diggers from 8.30pm-12

Tuesday Nov 1st at Pedens Cessnock for Melbourne Cup with times to be announced

Saturday Nov 5th at Gunyah Hotel, Belmont 8-11pm.DV8 Mark Oz Day 2016 from Kev Morris

Well the new DV8 album has been mixed by Mark Tinson and mastered by Don Bartley and we’ll be getting it out late October or early November….the 10 tracks are sounding amazing with thundering bass and drums alongside huge guitars…can’t wait to get it out there. DV8 will be at the Wickham Park Hotel this Sunday October 2nd for the Grand Final footy match. We’ll do a long set before the game at 6pm and another after the game. We’ll also be shooting some footage for a film clip if all goes well so come along and get on camera.DV8 resized 1

DV8’s new album is not too far away…all the mixes are finished and will be mastered soon…we’re all really excited at how fantastic the songs have turned out…stay tune for the release date probably by late October.

Gaye Sheather’s new book “Rock This City” features DV8 on the cover and also prominently in photos and stories about Newy rock bands and venues in the 1970’s and 80’s…it’s a great read!

We’ll be playing live at the Wicko on the long weekend Sunday October 2nd for the footy grand final. First set at 6pm and then another long set after the game. Another “Back to the JR” themed gig is happening at the Honeysuckle Hotel on Sunday October 16th. It starts early arvo and will feature DV8 , Baron and Flashback on the bill.DV8 rocks the Wicko Nov 14 2014

So many great gigs lately…DV8 at the Wicko on July 15th was superb…we’ve added some new songs to the setlist and we’ve almost finished the recording part of the new album with Tinno. It’s sounding fantastic and we’re almost at the mixing stage now.

So many awesome solo and duo gigs where everyone is in a dancing mood so I’m stomping my feet off these days. Greg DV8 Wicko March 2016

Yes! Lot’s of solo gigs through May and June…we also have DV8 for Deb at Newcastle Leagues on June 18th to raise money for the Mater Hospice.

I went for a very fun and relaxing radio interview with Wayne Osborne at Lake Mac FM 97.3….we played some old and new DV8 including a version of our new song “Rock and Roll Town” as well as an old DV8 live at the JR track and some Hot Yogis.

Lot’s of recording coming up and we’re working still on updating the Belmont 16’s DVD for a show and release next year.Greg at Radio 97.3

The end of April has seen 2 special gigs with DV8 at the Premier Hotel and Pedens at Cessnock. Fantastic crowds and great sound from Brian on the sound board. We’ve recently rearranged some songs like 141 and Future Shock plus have been working on new stuff. Recording has been held up but we’ll be back into it soon. Anzac Day at Pedens was rocking with a full dance floor of old fans and young alike!!

Hot Yogi’s gig at the Wicko April 24th was so full of joy!! Len is getting down on the funky bass and was complimented on his playing and licks by none other than Harry Brus who is probably Australia’s best bass man, having played with the cream of Australian recording artists over the years. Such a wide range of ages on the dance floor from lots of small children and teenagers through to the older crew. Stay tune for future showsDV8 2 Gunyah Feb 2016 Simone

Our last gig at the Wicko went off!! Huge crowd and great response…my new amps, G&L Guitar and TSR pedal were amazing….Trav played brilliantly on drums and we’re still rehearsing and honing all the songs every week.

In April we’re at the Premier Hotel on Sunday 17th from 4-7.30pm and also at Pedens Hotel, Cessnock on Anzac Day which is Monday 25th this year….not sure on times yet!DV8 Greg n Mark Wicko March 2016 Simone

It’s taken 3 months to arrive but my TSR pedal is here….unbelievable tone!!! Quite expensive too but worth it when you hear what it does…UK Guitar mag just reviewed it and gave it 9 out of 10 which is rare and Angus has added it to his rig which is amazing seeing that his classic tone was the reason that this was discovered quite by accident from investigating his original Schaffer Vega wireless system circuitry…
Awesome sound with my Fender Dual Showman 100W head and Marshall 1960 cab along with the G&L Fallout or the 1972 Tele Thinline.
This system will be firing at the Wicko with DV8 on Friday March 11th….GGGrrrrrrrrrr!!!!
Congratulations Fil and team!FullSizeRenderUK Guitarist TSR pedal review
